Out with the old

Categories: Friends |

A brand new year is starting soon, here’s to hoping it’s better than the old one. I could lament the stupid, rotten, unfortunate things that have happened in 2007, but what’s the point. The turning of the new year, each and every year, gives us a chance for a clean slate, a fresh start every 12 months. We should all take advantage of it and leave behind the worries and failings of the last year. That can be hard sometimes. So many of us here will be dealing with the after-affects of 2007 well into 2008, but I think I can view it as just tying up some loose ends.

I have two resolutions to share right now: I resolve to have my new blog up by New Year’s day and I’d like to figure out how to make this writing thingy bring in a few bucks. If you’d like to read the rest of my resolutions, you’ll have to wait until the new blog launches. Anybody else have any resolutions, hopes, or dreams for the New Year?

I don’t do resolutions (I like the way my screen looks ;) ), but I’m looking forward to the Sister Blog!

Two: Get my butt in better shape, so as to not get sick so often, and two, finish a first draft of the manuscript for the book I’ve been working on.

I’ve had the same New Year’s resolution for the same 8 years, and I haven’t broken it yet:

Live to see the next New Year.

It’s not meant to be grim or morbid, I just like to keep my resolution VERY simple.

I habitually refuse to do resolutions myself, because they always end up basically saying the same thing. But, I will say this:

I want to be a better listener and a better communicator, and I will focus my energies on that, as well as the usual things (reason, empathy, etc).

My Ma once said there is joy in everyday but we are normally to busy to see it
I’m going to try to see it this coming year

I have the same ones I’ve had — but since you don’t know them, I’ll repeat as often as necessary.

    1. Floss daily. (as opposed to annually)
    2. Start learning Spanish.
    3. Take better care of myself (which may or may not involve reduced smoking, or quitting, and/or reduced alcohol consumption. Given that I’m starting off the year jobless, both of those would be wise.

    New Year’s resolutions:

Same as always, quit smoking and lose weight. I’ve had the same ones for 20 yrs. I’m really into keeping traditions.

    And:

    You’ve been tagged

I think I need to get back to my regular self, though these days I’m not quite sure what that is :)
